Saad Omar Khan was born in the United Arab Emirates and lived in several countries in East and South-East Asia before emigrating to Canada. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the London School of Economics and completed his certificate in Creative Writing from the School of Continuing Studies (University of Toronto) where he was a finalist for the Random House Creative Writing Award (2010 and 2011) and for the Marina Nemat Award (2012) for an excerpt of his novel (Drinking the Ocean). He has also published works in the UC Review, Descant magazine and in the anthology Voices from the 11th Floor, published by The Soap Box Press.
His novel manuscript for Drinking the Ocean has been longlisted for the 2019 Guernica Prize for Literary Fiction.
He lives outside of Toronto and is currently working on his second novel.
